Fact-checking policy
Every number in a review should be traceable to a source. This is how we make sure it is.
What we check
Before publication and at each monthly review, a second editor checks every figure on the page against the operator's current terms: bonus percentages and caps, the wagering multiple and basis, stake limits, game weightings, cashback rates and caps, minimum deposits, payment methods and licence details.
How we check it
- Locate the figure in the operator's general terms, bonus terms or promotion page.
- Record the date and the wording.
- Where terms conflict with marketing, follow the terms and point out the conflict to readers.
- For regulatory statements, confirm against the relevant regulator's own material.
When something cannot be confirmed
If a figure is advertised but we cannot find it in the terms, we describe it as advertised and say that the terms should be checked. We do not round figures in the operator's favour or fill gaps with industry averages presented as facts.
Corrections
Confirmed errors are corrected on the page. Where a correction changes a score or a recommendation, we say so in the text with the date. Minor corrections such as a typing error in a figure are fixed without a note, but the last-checked date is updated.
Reader reports
Readers often notice changes first. Reports to [email protected] are checked against the source before any edit is made, so please include a link or screenshot where you can.
Separating checking from writing
The person who checks a page is never the person who wrote it. A fresh reader is more likely to notice a figure copied from an outdated promotion or a clause that was summarised too generously. The checker signs off each figure individually, and a page is not published until every figure is either confirmed or explicitly marked as advertised. The same process is repeated in full at each monthly review, not just for the sections that appear to have changed.
